"five score years ago" is referring to the speech that Abraham Lincoln gave.

The affect the Dr. King's speech had was a great affect and he had the same affect that Abe Lincoln had on people. Thus Dr. King tried to recreate that
felling.

The second figurative language is
"The note was a promise".

The figurative language
"This note was a promise" is giving the note human like powers to ""promise"" that all blacks were
equal.

the affect that the Personification gave people a since of hope that somebody was promising the that they were all created equal.

The third figurative language is
"this momentous decree came as a great beacon of hope"

The figurative language "this momentous decree came as a great beacon of hope" is saying that there is still hope out there you just half to find it.

The affect that the figurative language "this momentous decree came as a great beacon of hope" gave people hope that in someplace and at some time they would be free and have equal rights after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed.
