WHAT IS YOUR UNDERSTANDING OF THE "DREAMTIME"?

  • The dreamtime was an unrecorded era of creation.
  • Native to the aboriginal australians, they were told to children
  • Told by the elders and passed on down generations.
  • Sometimes the stories would change

HOW DO THE STORIES GET PASSED ON?

  • The stories are told by the elders to the children
  • And are passed on from generation to generation

WHAT IS A TOTEM?

  • A TOTEM IS A SMALL TRINKET WHICH SYMBOLISES AN ANIMAL FOR A CHILD
  • It is usually given due to a coincidence with the pregnant mother
  • They are always native australian animals

HOW IS THE ABORIGINAL MAP OF AU DIFFERENT TO THE MODERN MAP?

  • IT IS DIFFERENT BECAUSE THE LANGUAGE GROUPS ARE USED
  • TO CLASSIFY THE DIFFERENT GROUPS AND FAMILY GROUPS
  • IT WAS ALSO USED TO FIND DIFFERENT TRIBES

DESCRIBE THE SOCIAL STRUCTURE OF THE ABORIGINAL PEOPLE

  • The social structure of the aboriginal people was different to ours because:
  • They had some customs where the men would hunt and cook,
  • Where others had the men hunting and the women cooking, while the
  • Elders looked after the children.
  • The traditional roles for the women were to look for nuts and berries
