What is a drought anyways?

A drought is when precipitation over time in an area is below average, often causing ecological or economic problems.

• Shortage of food

How do droughts affect people who don't even live in the area?

Imagine being a farmer who grows food. When the rain can no longer keep your plants growing, they will obviously die or stop growing as well. If you used to sell your crops in the next town and no longer can, it may cause a food shortage.

Now imagine that on a larger scale...
Imagine the things caused by shortages of water and food...

That's the danger of droughts.
