WHAT'S SOCIAL ISSUE?

  • Social issue is an issue that relates to society perception of people's lives.
  • What's the social issue caused by alcohol and drugs?
  • Drunks and addicts are nothing but troublesome to public system
  • 16,000 deaths in the US happen each year due to drug abuse and alcohol
  • Drugs and alcohol cost the society an estimated $86.1 billion each year

WHO'S BEING AFFECTED?

  • Both drugs and alcohol are psychological, social and physical effects.
  • The entire society is affected by drugs and alcohol.
  • Addicts attend to commit crimes, and their joint effect in all areas.
  • Including health care costs.

FUNCTIONALIST

  • People's view on alcohol and drug abuse argues that it is a response to
  • weakening society norms. Which means change occurs and becomes
  • more complex. Drug and alcohol abuse as a response to weakening
  • societal norms.

CONFLICT-THEORY

  • The conflict theory emphasizes power influence of the drug
  • and alcohol use. Who's against it and who's not?
  • People could get addicted due to their life problems and pain
  • Which could cause crimes and deaths. No one should be with alcohol
  • and drugs, but yet half the US isn't against it.

  • to things that hurt them, but they don't notice it at
  • the time. Until it leads up to dangerous causes and deaths
