Camera Lens

basics

Aperture

  • The best way to understand aperture is to think of it as the controls for the pupil of an eye – the wider it gets, the more light it lets in.

ISO

  • ISO is the level of sensitivity of your camera to available light.
  • The lower the ISO number, the less sensitive it is to the light, while a higher ISO number increases the sensitivity of your camera.
  • With increased sensitivity, your camera sensor can capture images in low-light environments without having to use a flash. But higher sensitivity comes at an expense – it adds grain or “noise” to the pictures.

Shutter speed

  • The length of time when the film or digital sensor inside the camera is exposed to light
  • The slower the shutter speed the quicker the picture is taken
  • The faster the shutter speed the slower the picture is taken (more details)

Why get a dslr?

Untitled Slide

  • Better image quality ( A DSLR camera typically has a much bigger sensor than a point and shoot camera)

Untitled Slide

  • Shutter and focus speeds. DSLRs can acquire focus very quickly and take multiple shots per second.
