I'ts populous Emirate in the United Arab Emirates
It is the second largest Emirate after Abu Dhabi
It is located on the southeast coast of the Persian Gulf
As of 2012, Dubai is the 22nd most expensive city.

Many ancient towns in the area were trading centers.
About 5000 years the Emirate was only sand.
Dubai is thought to have been established as a fishing village
On December 2 1971 Dubai joined the United Arab Emirates.

Dubai is situated on the coast of the Persian Gulf
It is roughly at sea level (16 m or 52ft above)
Dubai has no natural river bodies or oases
It has a natural inlet called Dubai Creek.

Dubai has been ruled by the Al Maktoum family since 1833
The emirate is a constitutional monarchy with no elections
The Current ruler is Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum
The Dubai Municipality was established by Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum

The ruler of Dubai is in charge of the police.
