E. coli E. coli genomic DNA is purified from E. coli type B cells, ATCC 11303 strain. It has a single chromosome and the genome is 4,600,000 bp long. This genomic DNA is fragmented to some degree during purification yet it is characterized as a high molecular weight DNA.
