Conductive Hearing Loss
- Deals with the transfer of mechanical motion through the ear.
- Can be found in the Outer Ear and the Middle Ear.
SENSORINEURAL HEARING LOSS
- Deals with the creation and transfer of electrical signals to the brain.
- Found in the inner ear.
What is Hearing?
Hearing is the faculty or sense by which sound is perceived and is also
the act of perceiving sound.
What is Deafness?
Partially or wholly lacking or deprived of the sense of hearing; unable to hear.
Culture Perspective-
Nothing wrong with me being Deaf, so there is no need to fix
Deaf are not disabled.
Medical Perspective-
Being Deaf means that there is a physical problem in the Development.
Deafness is a disability or impairment.
Deafness should be "cured."
Hearing Aids-
used to amplify sound ( make louder) works best for Conductive Hearing Loss.
Cochlear Implants-
used to synthetically reproduce sound. Can be used for Conductive or
Sensorial hearing loss.
