American Colony

They settled in 1584, ended by 1590.

Sir Walter Raleigh, and Queen Elizabeth.

Roanoke would make England more powerful.

People didn't know how to grow food.

Roanoke was gone when John White came back.

American Colony 

They settled in 1606.

Englands king James gave permission to a group of wealthy men to start a colony.

Captain John Smith was captured by American Indians.

Powhatan is an American Indian

Spanish ships can not easily attack the settlement. They wanted riches.

The town marsh was dirty and salty.

Jamestown carried a deadly diseases called Malaria.

They had to build the town on a marsh.

People ended up dying because of the disease.

They settled in 1620, Never ended.

King James, Squanto, William Bradford. 

The Pilgrims wanted religious freedom. 

The Pilgrims landed at Cape Cod.

Squanto a Native American came refresh the colony. 

Helped the Pilgrims grow Corn.

Helped them catch fish.

He also helped them get maple syrup from maple trees.

After Squanto helped the Pilgrims they had a big feast that is Thanksgiving
