WHAT EVEN IS EARTH DAY?😗

• Earth Day was created April 22 in 1970 by Gaylord Nelson
• Gaylord suggested that that day be used as an environmental education day🌱
• 20 million people participated in the US the first day
• 20 years later it becomes a world wide holiday🎉🎉🎉

WHY DOES IT MATTER?❤️🐢🐘🐻

• This is the world your future kids will live in, your Kid's kids, and your kid's kid's kid's. Don't you want them to live in a clean environment?!
• In 1975 there was 17 billion pounds of garbage dumped in the ocean, and there are over one billion more people on this earth now. How much garbage is that?
• Every year over 1 million sea birds and 100,000 sea mammals, not including regular sea creatures, die from pollution every year.
• Turtles think trash bags and grocery bags are food, they eat them and they don't digest it, then they think they are full because of that, the turtle starves to death.😭💔🐢
• Living in a polluted place increases chance of lung cancer by 20%

HOW CAN I HELP?🙋

• Plant Trees, trees give us oxygen. 🌳
• Never let a drop of water go to wast! Reuse water by dumping it out in the bushes or out side!💦🌻
• The lights do not always need to be turned on! If it's sunny outside you could open your blinds and let in the natural light. Also it saves your parents money.👏👏👏
• Pick up trash, yours or not. Think about the turtles! Pick up trash and you could be saving the life of an animal and it feels good knowing you did the right thing!
• Spread the word. Tell your friends and remind them to be green.❤️🌎
