GOBI DESERT

  • The Gobi desert covers parts of northern China, and southern Mongolia.
  • Gobi means waterless place.
  • The Gobi is about 500,000 square miles.
  • The Gobi is the largest desert region located in Asia.
  • Only 5% of the Gobi desert is sand dunes.

HIMALAYA MOUNTAINS

  • The Himalayas means the abode of snow.
  • 75% of Nepal is covered by the Himalayas.
  • The Himalayas is the youngest mountain range in the world.
  • The Himalayas is the tallest mountain range in the world.
  • 31 of the Himalayan peaks exceed 7,600 meters.

YELLOW RIVER

  • The Yellow River or Huang He is the second-longest river in Asia.
  • The yellow river is know as the mother river of China.
  • The yellow river is about 3,395 miles long.
  • The headwaters of the yellow river lie in the Kunlun Mountains
  • The yellow river is the sixth largest river in the world

SEA OF JAPAN

  • The Sea of Japan is also know as the East Sea.
  • The Sea is bordered by Japan, North Korea, Russia and South Korea.
  • The Sea of Japan is 377,600 square miles.
  • The Sea of Japan can get up to 12,276 feet deep.
  • The Sea of Japan is located in the western Pacific Ocean.

MONGOLIAN PLATEAU

  • Grasslands cover two-thirds of central Mongolia.
  • Mongolian plateau provides grazing land for horses, oxen, sheep, goats, and camels.
  • The Mongolian plateau is part of the Central Asia plateau.
  • The Mongolian plateau is approximately 2,600,000 square kilometres.
  • The Greater Hinggan Mountains border the Mongolian plateau on the east.
