Summary

Svetlana Grimm believes she is a vampire.

After transitioning to Sunny Hill, California, Svetlana Grimm believes she is a vampire. She eats only red foods, sleeps under her bed, and possesses ESP and mind control.

She soon encounters her new science teacher, Ms. Larch, who communicates mentally with her and smells strongly of rotting trash.

Svetlana meets her neighbor Mrs.Bones who shows her she is not a vampire, "olfactive". Mrs.Bones has been chasing Ms.Larch all her life because she is the Kenningston Vampire, a blood sucking killer.

3 girls and the old science teacher go missing, Svetlana decides to take action. She has trouble accepting herself and what she must do, but after almost being poisoned by Larch, she decides to destroy her.

Svetlana grabs her 2 friends Fumio Chen and Foote and they begin their search for Larch. Mrs.Bones is no help because she suffered an injury, but she provides Svet with knowlegde and weapons (dynamite, wooden stake).

Svet finds and frees the 3 girls who take off with Fumio and Foote. The dynamite she has is unstable and blows up as she is being chased by Ms. Larch. Luckily, she jumped into a fridge and was saved from being blown up.

Eating Only Red Foods

Can you get proper nutrition/live healthfully?

“Since I only eat red foods, I’d brought my lunch along with me.” Page 6
(and from the title)

I have made a list of a few of the required nutrients a healthy human being should intake daily.
I will compare these requirements to foods eaten by the vampire/half characters to see if it is realistic to live healthfully eating only red foods.

What is nutrition?
Nutrition is the process of providing or obtaining the food necessary for health and growth.

Folic Acid

(Folate)

Folate helps tissues grow and cells work. It also works with vitamin B12 & vitamin C to help the body break down, use, and create new proteins.

Strawberries, red grapes, raspberries, beets, red carrots

Potassium

Potassium is needed to build proteins, break down and use carbohydrates, build muscle, maintain normal body growth, control the electrical activity of the heart, and control acid-base balance.

Any meats, salmon, any red colored fish, tomatoes, red skin potatoes, red colored yogurt, any red colored nut, cherries

One of the main characters who also eats only red foods is Ms. Larch. She considers blood a food.

Blood is rich in iron. An overdose on iron can be toxic or fatal to a human. Some animals who consume a lot of blood are specially adapted to do so. Humans of course do not have such adaptations and therefore are not suitable for consuming blood.

Red Super Foods

Foods full of health benefits...nutrients/antioxidants

Pomegranates are
full of antioxidants which protect against heart disease and cancer.

Red Bell Peppers
contain high amounts of vitamin C which provide about 300% percent of the daily intake, & also contain dietary fiber, vitamin A, vitamin B6, & vitamin E.

Watermelon
is 92% water and contains several nutrients, vitamins and minerals: vitamin A, vitamin B6, vitamin C, magnesium, potassium, antioxidants, & other dietary fibers.

Many nutritionist and nutritional guidelines recommend a variety or “rainbow” of colors of foods for an ideally healthy diet. But my small amount research shows that there are many red foods that are full of antioxidants and many different vitamins and nutrients. This leads me to conclude that it is possible to live a pretty healthy life eating only red foods (except blood).
