Where Did The Teachings Come From?

• The teachings are believed to have been on earth since the beginning of humanity.
• Many terms in Eckankar trace their roots to the Far East of the World, but they have their own meanings and applications in this area.
• In 1965, Paul Twitchell made Eckankar publicly known.
• He separated truths from cultural trappings, making it possible for everyday people to experience the light and sound of God during their lives.

HOW DOES ECKANKAR MEET SPIRITUAL NEEDS?

• It offers an individual the tools to follow one's own journey home to God.
• Eckankar gives people practical ways to have real spiritual experiences.
• Eckankar redefines the experience of religion.

DOES ECKANKAR BELIEVE IN GOD?

• Eckankar teaches that there is one supreme God, or creator, neither male nor female.
• The spiritual essence of God is the Light and the Sound.
• The Light and Sound is the Holy Spirit, which connects each individual to the heart of God.
• There are no words to describe God, but you can symbolically say the home of God is 'the Ocean of Love and Mercy'.

WHAT ARE THE BASIC BELIEFS?

• Your soul is eternal
• Your soul is in existence due to God's love
• Your soul is constantly on a journey to discover self and to discover God
• Your soul spiritually unfolds in karma and reincarnation

• HU is the ancient name for God
• HU is also a love song for God
• It represents the endless love that God has for his creations
• People of any religious belief can sing HU for spiritual upliftment

REINCARNATION

• Each person's soul is a spark of God that lives throughout eternity
• Each life of a soul is so that it may gain spiritual experience
• Throughout many lives of a soul, you reach full realization.
• Reincarnation and karma are primary beliefs of Eckankar.

REINCARNATION CONT.

• We build of karma through the the spiritual Law of Cause and Effect.
• The Holy Spirit(ECK) helps to purify us from Karma(sin).
• This helps us to understand the love of God during our lifetime.

JESUS

• Jesus is viewed as a messenger to God.
• He serves as the spiritual guide for Christians.
• Twitchell speaks of the message of love that Jesus brought.

IS ECKANKAR A CULT?

• No.
• It is against their spiritual beliefs to push a belief upon someone.
• They do not embrace a communal lifestyle.
• They believe diet and lifestyle are personal choices.
