Poe's early life

• Poe was born on January 19,1809 Boston.
• He was adopted by Mr and Mrs. John Allen 
• His mother had separated from his father and died 2 years later
• With his new family he would grow up to go into the army
• After the army he returned to New York and tried as an author

Poe as an author

• In New York Poe tried his chances as an author
• He tried submitting many articles,books, and poems but all were rejected
• In 1835 he was finally accepted as an editor for a local newpapers
• As the editor he increased the copies made by almost 3000
• He left though a year later complaining of poor salary

Poe on his own

• Poe had moved from New York in Philadelphia in 1838
• His life from there had improved after landing a job as an magazine editor
• The magazine he worked for, Grahams Magazine, had increased 30,000 copies
• He left 2 years later in order to start his own magazine

Poe's Life after

• After his magazine ended he had married 
• His marriage had gone well and he slowly became an author
• He finally began to get his many works published 
• His works at the beginning had not been very successful 
• But as the romantic movement started to get popular so did his works

POe after his career

• Poe would continue writing until his death
• He became very depressed after the death of his wife 
• He then started to show signs of tuberculosis
• He would end up leaving his home not telling anyone to die peacefully
• He died in Baltimore on the streets unconcscious

• Although Poe was a famous author at the time
• Many of his works did not become famous until after his death
• His life was documented and written for all to see at his museum 
• His museum is in Richmond Virginia
