EDUCATION MOVEMENT

BY: ETHAN WOOD

Goals of the Movement

“Education is the process which one generation endeavors to pass along to another it's hard-won wisdom and it's aspirations for a better world" (Education-Reform Movements).

Important Events or Actions

In the United States, there would be around 60 students in rooms at schools. Horace Mann made the school years extended to 6 months a year, he also made improvements in the curriculum. Most colleges and universities didn't let females attend. Mary Lyon founded the first women's college (Education, Britannica).

Impact of the Education Movement.

Schools allowed women to attend, Horace Mann made it so there were 6 month school years and he increased the curriculum (Education Reform Movement). Without certain individuals like Horace Mann or Mary Lyon schools could possible still have 60 students to a room, lower curriculum which means less inventions, and women might not have as much knowledge or jobs.
