The effects of guilt are indeed devastating to ones actions and way of thought causing people to go though stages of denial.

This guilt of Macbeth's appears in his decent into madness.

When he sees his friend Banquo, at the dinner table where he was suppose to sit.

While this ghostly apparition taunts Macbeth.

This guilt that haunts Macbeth can be seen by any normal man who has done a travesty, and can't with all the water in the world wash the blood off their hands.

This guilt couldn't be simple washed away, it would stick with you like a tick that's lodged so deep it impossible to dig out.

This guilt pushes him to believe he is invincible, but soon be killed by his pride.

This guilt is like not telling everything you wanted to tell a family member before they pass.

This guilt is the undoing of men.
