EGYPT TOMB AND PYRAMID PROJECT

When They Were Made

• Pyramids with tombs inside were only built in the Old Kingdom.
• This was between 2649- 2150 B.C.
• This was over 2,000 years before Jesus was born.
• This was also over 5,000 years from 2013 A.D.

Where They Were Made

• They were built in deserts.
• They were built in Egypt.
• Egypt is located in NE Africa.
• Pyramids were built in cities.

WHO WAS BURIED IN THE TOMBS?

• Tombs held royal or really wealthy people.
• Family of the royal household were also buried there.
• Scribes or architects could also be found in tombs.
• Tombs were not used for civilians or peasants.

THE INSIDE OF THE PYRAMID

• Pyramids held more than just tombs.
• Inside each tomb there was an antechamber, burial chamber, annex, and treasury.
• The tombs had four rooms for pharoahs.
• Pyramids had storage rooms, secret passageways, traps, and courtyards.
• Pyramids were complex in order to be safe from robbers.

WHY EGYPTIANS HAD PYRAMIDS AND TOMBS

• Pyramids and tombs were a status symbol for the wealthy.
• They wanted to secure their afterlife with a proper burial.
• Also they had money and they wanted to spend it.
• Buried with the body, there was treasure for a better afterlife.
• Bodies were safer in a tomb than in the desert or just buried underground.
