Absolute Location

  • The absolute location of Egypt is 26 North and 30 East.
  • Egypt is located in the northern part of Africa..
  • Some countries that surround it are Sudan and Libya. 
  • The Mediterranean Sea, the Red Sea, and the Golf Of Aquaba surround it.

Relative Location

  • Egypt is located in both the Eastern and the Northern Hemispheres.
  • The Tropic of Cancer runs through the bottom half of the country.

Size of egypt

  • Egypt is 386,700 square miles 

Cairo

  • Cairo is the capital of Egpyt.
  • Largest city in Middle-east Africa.
  • The Pyramids of Giza are located in Cairo.
  • 16th largest metropolitan area in the world.

Pyramids of giza

  • Located in Cairo.
  • 3 main pyramids.
  • 136 pyramids in total as of 2008.
  • Made to hold the most powerful ancient Egyptians.
  • Made for the deceased pharaohs, queens, etc.

  • Also known as the Gates of the Kings."
  • Tombs constructed for the phahroahs.

the luxor temple

  • Ancient Egyptian temple complex.
  • Located on the East bank of the Nile River.
  • Founded in 1400 BCE.
  • Known in Egypt as the "Southern Sanctuary."

  • Also known as Mount Horeb.
  • In the Peninsula of Egypt.
  • Mentioned in the bible many times.

Formal: The Nile Delta

  • Located in the north most upper part of Egypt.
  • By the Mediterranean Sea
  • People around the Nile are much more into nature
  • They speak strictly Arabic
  • Other regions around speak other languages.

Functional: Upper Egypt

  • Upper Egypt is the central place for all Egyptians.
  • Goods are transported through upper Egypt.
  • More abundant jobs are located in upper Egypt.

Perceptual:

  • Pyramid Builders
  • Weird Beliefs
  • Wearing fancy jewels and clothes
  • Religious/Biblical

Movement: GOods

  • Lots of goods are transported by boats.
  • Some, but very few are by train.
  • Airplanes are very uncommon; not many airports.
  • Mains import: Food and wood
  • Main Export: Oil

  • Resources are very poor; poach wild animals for food
