AMARNA

  • Akhenaten- A pharaoh who commissioned many self portraits, including a colossal statue of himself
  • Tiye - Tiye was the daughter of Yuya and Tjuyu. She became the Great Royal Wife of the Egyptian pharaoh Amenhotep III. She had a highly decorated sculpture of he face
  • Nefertiti - widely considered to be the most beautiful women in egypt
  • King Tut - the most famous pharaoh of egypt, had a highly decorative funerary mask

OLD KINGDOM

  • Narmer - May have been Menes, first to rule the old kingdom (Narmer Palette)
  • Stepped Pyramids - predecessors to the pyramids, had stepped sides resembles the ziggurats
  • Pyramids of Giza - A large grouping a Egypt's most famous funerary structures
  • Sphinx - A large statue near giza with the head of a man, but he body of a lion, meant to protect the tombs
  • Khafre - A Pharaoh that built a valley temple and a self potrait for himself

OLD KINGOM (CONTD)

  • Menkaure and Wife - A statue made of graywacke with traces of red, depicts menkaure and his wife.
  • Seated Scribe - A statue made of limestone that depicts a seated scribe
  • Ti (sculpture) - A life size sculpture of Ti was found in his tomb
  • Ti (architecture) - The tomb of Ti is famous for the spectacular relief sculptures that line the walls, depicting various aspects of the egyptian underworld

MIDDLE KINGDOM

  • Rock cut tombs - tombs that were literally carved out of the cliff fave
  • Sensuret -A pharaoh whose statue seems to reflect that he was preoccupied and emotionally drained

NEW KINGDOM

  • Karnak - A large temple complex that had lots of statues and decorated columns
  • Hatepshet (temple) - A very impressive funerary complex that is cut from the rock face, has a central ramp lined with columned halls
  • Hatepshet (statue) - Hatepshet's statues were depicted in all the ways that mens were, showing that women could rule

RAMSES II

  • Ramses II - Ramses the second's most noted piece of art is probably the colossal statue that he built in his image, outside his tomb
  • HuNefer - HuNefer was a scribe who was most famous for owning a copy of the egyptian book of the dead, also called the hunefer papyrus
