AND THE GODS ASSOCIATED WITH THEM

PLAGUE OF BLOOD

  • This plague made the water inedible
  • This plague killed all of the fish and Egypt wreaked
  • Pharaoh was warned and allowed to watch it happen
  • ThEgyptian gods affiliated with this event are Khnum, Hapi, and Osiris

PLAGUE OF FROGS

  • In Egypt the frog symbolized the Babylonian politicians arguing.
  • The frogs also made it hard to sleep.
  • Pharaoh was warned, but was not with Moses when it happened
  • The Egyptian god associated with this was Heqt

PLAGUE OF LOCUSTS

  • The Egyptian's harvest was completely destroyed
  • The god associated with this was Seth
  • Pharaoh was warned about this but still hardened his heart

PLAGUE OF DARKNESS

  • Actually pharaoh was not warned
  • Lasted for three days
  • The Egyptian god associated with this was Ra
  • Ra was the god of the sun
  • Egyptian magicians did nothing to help with this plague

DEATH OF FIRSTBORN

  • Pharaoh was warned and affected by this first hand
  • The god attacked was pharaoh
  • After this the Israelites were let go
  • Pharaoh was the god attacked because he ruled the people
  • And the people were affected, so he was the god attacked

DEATH OF FIRSTBORN ISRAELITE SIDE

  • The Israelites were spared this by putting lambs blood on their door
  • They were warned by God through Moses
  • The lamb's blood symbolized Jesus dying on the cross for us
  • Because the lamb was killed to save that family in the house

IN CONCLUSION

  • The plagues were a terrible thing
  • God used these as a way to persuade pharaoh to let the
  • Israelites leave Egyptian bondage
