How tall is the Eiffel Tower?
The height of the Eiffel Tower varies according to the weather

In 1891, London designed a building to surpass the Eiffel Tower in height. It was unsteady, never completed and demolished in 1907.

FACTS

  • Erika La Tour Eiffel "married" the Eiffel Tower in 2007
  • Inventor Franz Reichelt died by jumping from the Eiffel Tower while testing a parachute that he designed.
  • The Eiffel Tower was going to be tore down in 1909, but it was saved because it was saved as a giant radio antenna.

the Eiffel Tower was designed to be wind resistant, swaying only a few inches in the wind. It actually moves further when the iron on the sun facing side heats and expands, moving the top up to 7 inches away from the sun.

the Eiffel Tower in French is pronounced La Tour Eiffel, it also has the nickname La dame de fer which means the iron lady.
