El Salvador has made two Fifa World Cup appearances first in 1970 and again in 1982 but have never progressed beyond the first group stage of a finals tournament.
El Salvador has appeared in 10 Olympics but has yet to win a medal.

El Salvador's most notable dish is the pupusa, a thick handmade corn flour or rice flour tortilla stuffed with cheese, chicharrón (cooked pork meat ground to a paste consistency), refried beans or loroco (a vine flower bud native to Central America).

CLIMATE
- El Salvador has a tropical climate with pronounced wet and dry seasons. Temperatures vary primarily with elevation and show little seasonal change. The Pacific lowlands are uniformly hot and humid; the central plateau and mountain areas are more moderate.
