EL SALVADOR IS IN SOUTHERN MEXICO AND NEIGHBORS GUATEMALA, HONDURAS, AND NICARAGUA.

EL SALVADOR'S CAPITAL AND MAIN CITIES

  • El Salvador's capital is San Salvador.
  • El Salvador's main cities are San Salvador, with a population of 525,990, Soyapango, with a population of 329,708, and Santa Ana, with a population of 17,661.

EL SALVADOR POPULATION

  • There are 6.29 million people in El Salvador.
  • Those people are made out of 90% Mestizo, 6% Caucasian, American Indian 3%, and indigenous 1%.

INFORMATION ON THE MAJOR GROUPS

  • Mestizo's are a mixture of European and Amerindian descendants.
  • Caucasian's are European descent.
  • Amerindians are American Indians that originated in the 1900's.

GEOGRAPHY, CLIMATE, AND LANDFORMS

  • El Salvador has the Sierra Madre Mountains that border the country along with more than 20 volcanos. The Lempa River is the most significant river and the Lake Llopango is the largest lake.
  • El Salvador has two seasons of weather, the dry season and the rainy season.

RELIGON AND HOLIDAYS

  • El Salvadorian's are primarily Roman Catholic.
  • El Salvador's holidays that we share, Christmas, and Holy Week/Semana Santa also known as Easter.
  • El Salvador also celebrates, Queen of Peace Day, which is celebrated almost the same as Mardi Gras. Day of the Dead, is celebrated by going to the grave of one you loved and give flowers and pray, some even sleep there. And Labor Day, which is a parade where they protest working labor issues.
  • Their most important holiday of all is Holy Week.

SPORTS

  • The most popular sport is football, it is also commonly called soccer, but they also appreciate wrestling.
  • El Salvador has never made it past the first round in the World Cup.
  • Their best athletes are, Magico Gonzalez, Rodolfo Zelaya, and Arturo Alvarez, all football/soccer players.

FOOD

  • Pupsas are corn tortilla, semita de piña are jam filled pastery, pavo salvadoreño is El Salvadoran turkey with sauce, salsa roja is tomato sauce, atoll de elote is a corn beverage, carne asada is grilled steak, quesadilla salvadoreño is sweet cheese pound cake, curtido is cabbage salad.
  • I think all El Salvador's food would be really tasty.

cLOTHES

  • Girls wear colorful dresses that are embroidered depending on the holiday, but their normal dresses are just dresses. Their dress shoes are boots but their normal shoes are anything.
  • Mens dress is embroidered shirts and pants with boots. Their normal clothing is a tee shirt and pants/shorts.
