ELEMENTS AND PRINCIPLES OF ART

PATTERN

  • Pattern is the repitition of one thing.
  • The shapes are repeating.
  • The circle in the octagon and the square are continuing in every way.

EMPHASIS

  • The part of the design that catches the viewers attention.
  • Matthew's face and his nostril and eye appear more closer.
  • Matthew's face is awesome and close to the camera so the eyes go to his face.

COLOR

  • The shade, tint, or tone of a pigment.
  • There is five different colors.
  • The colors are the first five colors of the rainbow.

LINE

  • A mark with with greater length than width.
  • There are many lines on the table because it is wood
  • There is a monochromatic color scheme.

MOVEMENT

  • The path of the viewers eye.
  • The grass gets wider going into the park.
  • The image makes your eyes move to the middle of the picture.

TEXTURE

  • How the picture "feels".
  • The diagonal lines pop out a little making a texture.
  • There are diagonal lines and vertical lines.

BALANCE

  • How the picture is "weighed".
  • The trees are on the right and left side of the picture.
  • The trees on the sides and the middle make the image balanced.

SPACE

  • The distance or areas around, between, or within things.
  • There is a tree and the gray sky.
  • The dull one color of the skycovering the tree makes it an image with space.
