PRESENTATION OUTLINE

PROJECT

  • This project is about mixtures, elements, and compounds and what they mean
  • And also what elements are found in the earths crust

MIXTURES

  • A mixture is a combonation between two or more things to make a different substance
  • They can be easily seperated
  • Five examples are: salad, air (contains oxygen nitrogen and other gases),chex mix
  • Soil, and mixed vegetables

MIXTURE TYPES

  • Homogeneous is when you cant see all the substances there is and cant take it a part
  • Heterogeneous is when you can see the substances for that mixture and take them a part
  • Homogeneous examples air and koolaid
  • Heterogeneous examples lucky charms and oil and vinegar

ELEMENTS

  • Elements are pure substances and are composed of the same atoms
  • They can be broken down into one element
  • Five examples are sodium, chlorine, hydrogen, oxygen, carbon, and nitrogen

COMPOUND

  • Compounds are two or more elements chemically combined make compounds
  • Can be broken down into individual elements
  • Five examples are water, glucose, alcohol, salt, and ethanol

ELEMENTS IN THE EARTHS CRUST

  • The most common elements in the earths crust are
  • Oxygen 46.1%, silicon 28.2%, aluminum 8.23%, iron 5.63%
  • Calcium 4.15%, sodium 2.36%, magnesium 2.33%, potassium 2.09%
  • Titanium 0.565%, and hydrogen 0.14%
