HISTORY

  • Sodium was first isolated by Sir Humphry Davy.
  • It was discovered in 1807.
  • Sir Humphry Davy discovered it in England.

USES

  • Sodium produces Titanium, Sodamide, Sodium Cyanide.
  • It also produces sodium Hydride.
  • Also sodium vapor is used in streetlights.
  • And is a coolant for nuclear reactors.

ZINC

  • Symbol: Zn
  • Room Temperature: Solid
  • Color: Bluish-Silver

HISTORY

  • Zinc was rediscovered by Andreas Sigismund Marggraf.
  • It was discovered in 1746.
  • Andreas Sigismund Marggraf discovered in Germany.

USES

  • Zinc is used to make many useful alloys.
  • Also it is used with lead and tin to make solder.
  • Zinc today is used in a process known as galvanization.
  • Zinc is also used to make dry cell batteries.
