CONTROVERSY PART I

• His book was believed to be a fiction story
• struggle to find a publisher that handeled French and English
• Autobiography, but Wiesel wanted it to be a memoir
• book states that Elie and his father stayed together the whole time=highly unlikely

CONTROVERSY PART II

• many other writers mention gas chambers, Elie does not
• doesn't show is ID Tattoo that all Jews in concentration camp had
• Carlo Maltogno accuses Elie of imposter of a man named Lazar Wiesel
• some readers and historians thinks the book is a fraud because it has too much luck
