Daughter of Daniel Cady and Margaret Livingston Cady
An American suffragist, social activist, abolitionist, and leading figure of the early women's rights
movement.
She went to college in Emma Willard School.
Accomplishments
- Her speech, The Declaration of Sentiments, presented at the Seneca Falls Convention in 1848 is often called one of the first steps towards women's rights
- Stanton not only addressed voting issues. She talked about divorce, property rights, birth control, employment, custody rights, any many other issues.
- Stanton was also the 1st president of the National American Woman Suffrage Association
Legacy
- That women should have a say in American politics.
- Energy and with a lot of sacrifices she tried everything for political manipulation to achieve something which we take for granted today: the right to have a political vote
