CC - when to use

  • To celebrate accomplishments
  • To increase transparency
  • If everyone needs to see everyone else's replys
  • Teachers: to address your teaching team

CC - when not to use

  • when there are many people in the thread
  • when people's emails are to be kept private

Bcc - when to use

  • When there are a lot of people in the email
  • To prevent everyone from seeing all of the replys
  • When you want an email address hidden from others
  • Teachers: when sending emails in mass to parents

Reply all - when to use

  • to respond to everyone in the thread
  • example RSVPing to an event

  • when you want to send the email to someone it was not originally sent to
  • teachers: when someone else needs to be involved in the email (for example, looping in a social worker)
