WHY IS HE SPECIAL
- His plane crashed while he was returning to Mexico from a trip to America, in an air plain
- This is special because at the time, traveling to different country’s by air was unheard of
- He is remembered by Mexico because he was one of the first people in their country to fly an air plain
WHAT HAPPENED TO HIM
- During his flight there was a thunderstorm that brought him down in the Pine Barrens, Tabernacle
- He died on July 12, 1928
MEANING BEHIND HIS GRAVE
- His grave has symbols on it that represent different things
- There is an arrow rising on the grave to represent his plain rising.
- There also is an eagle descending on the grave to represent his crash
CEREMONY
- Last year the ceremony was held on July 8th, but the dates do change each year
- It is held by American Legion Of Mount Holly
- Sponsors lay out wreaths in front of the memorial
- There are speeches
- There is a reenactment of people finding Emilio’s body in the woods
- There is also a moment of silence
