3RD WORLD FACTS

  • 884 million people in the world lack access water supplies
  • 3.5 million people die each year because of water-related diseases
  • Almost 2 in 3 people who need drinking water survive on only 2$ a day.
  • In the developing world women walk an average of over 3.5 miles a day to find fresh water.
  • Every 20 seconds a child dies from water-related diseases.

3RD WORLD PROBLEMS

  • More than 1/2 of all primary school in developing countries don't have adequate water facilities and nearly 2/3 lack adequate sanitation.
  • Clean water is one aspect of improving sustainable food production in order to reduce poverty and hunger.
  • Dirty water kills 5,000 children a day and 4,100 of those children are usually under the age of 5 years old.
  • Every year about 4 million children under the age of 5 die from just one water-borne disease.
