  • Largest of all penguins
  • Typically live 15-20 years
  • 45 inches tall and can weigh up to 88 lbs
  • Do not fly
  • Carnivorous diet (meat eaters

HABITAT

  • Live in Antaractica on ice
  • Environment is harsh: wind chills reach -76 degrees F
  • Huddle together to escape wind and conserve warmth
  • Live with their colony

  • Hunting season is sometimes 2 months long
  • They will travel up to 50 miles to get food (fish, squid, and krill)
  • Can dive to 1,850 ft, deeper than any other bird
  • They can stay underwater for 20 minutes
