HOW CAN WE HELP?

WOULD YOU HELP?

The main point of this presentation is to stop the carelessness of people when they go through the desert. They race and disobey the rules which kills the desert tortoise, and other animals.

THE PROBLEM

  • The problem is the disobeying of laws.
  • People racing through the desert careless to watch for animals.

WHAT CAN HAPPEN

THIS IS A DEAD DESERT TORTOISE, IT WAS KILLED BY A TRUCK DURING A RACE.

RULES DISOBEYED

  • Staying on designated trails.
  • Yielding as wildlife crosses trails or their routes.

People are petitioning for laws that make it illegal to use off-highway vehicles anywhere except their newly built trails specifically for that purpose.

There are currently no laws against desert racing to save animals, there are regulations, but people can break them and it never is noticed.

The main regulation is that you have to stay on the trails, but they don't have officials to make sure they follow them.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

  • You can tell people about the problem.
  • Show problem through a presentation.

Example: you want to raise awareness, you could make flyers also.

The presentation was made to raise awareness for the desert tortoise, what the problem is and how you can help. I hope this did help raise awareness for the problem.

These desert tortoises were marked with a orange dot so they can tell what happens to them in the future.
