PRESENTATION OUTLINE

WIND ENERGY

  • Today I'm going to talk about why wind energy is a good energy source

HOW DOES IT WORK?

  • Well,a wind turbine works the complete opposite of a fan.
  • A fan uses electricity to make wind
  • a wind turbine though, use wind to make electricity.
  • The wind makes the blades move and turn
  • which spins a shaft, that is connected to a generator and that makes electricity.

CURRENT USES

  • it converts kinetic energy from the wind into electrical power
  • used for water pumping or communications
  • It is also used to lower peoples electric bills

WHAT ARE SOME USES?

  • wind turbines are typically used for water pumping or communications.
  • But,many homeowners, farmers, ect. That live in windy areas also use wind turbines as a way.
  • to lower their electric bills
  • (These are called 'stand-alone wind turbines')

WHAT EFFECTS DOES IT HAVE ON THE ENVIRONMENT

  • What's good is there is no toxic pollution or global warming emissions.
  • They are causes to some deaths of bats and birds
  • but there has been a low percentage for these deaths,so no need to worry
  • Windmills do not take up too much space, which is good

IS IT WIDELY ACCEPTED?

  • Yes,it is
  • Why? Because lots of people use it for energy
  • And it doesn't pollute the environment

PROS AND CONS

  • Pros: it doesn't cause pollution. It contributes to 80% of American electricity
  • Cons: kills a small percentage of birds and bats. wind is unsteady and unpredictable
