  • 1651 Charles II Defeated by Cromwell

BATTLE OF NASEBY

  • Very important battle that was fought between Parliaments army and Charles I army.
  • The Parliements army won this battle.

CHARLES I

  • In 1625 became king
  • Throughout 1625-1629 he dismissed parliament multiple times
  • 1649 was executed, after surrendering in 1646

OLIVER CROMWELL

  • Originally elected in 1628 to Parliament
  • When civil war broke out he ordered and demanded for a standing army.

GLORIOUS REVOLUTION

JAMES II

  • In 1660 after being captured returned to England.
  • Issued the deceleration of indulgence, looking for absolute religious toleration.
  • 1690 defeated in the battle of Boyne

WILLIAM OF ORANGE

  • 1689 1000 colonists seized Andros and sent to jail
  • Two years after this event occurred Massachusetts was made a royal colony.
  • 1690 defeated James II in battle of The Boyne.

ACT OF SETTLEMENT

  • Allowed for the English crown or Royals to go to the Protestant house of Hanover, only if Anne and Heir to William died.
