RULE NUMBER 1

  • The predicate agrees with the subject in
  • person and number BUT the third person's
  • singular verb ends with "s".

RULE NUMBER 2

  • The predicate agrees with the subject no matter
  • how many word/s are between them.

  • Kovu was exiled by Simba in the 2nd Lion King
  • Kovu, Kiara's bestfriend/lover, was exiled by Simba
  • - in the 2nd Lion King Movie

RULE NUMBER 3

  • If the subject is expressed by a collective noun that is a single group
  • of individuals, then the predicate should be singular.
  • If the subject is expressed by a collective noun that is a number of
  • individuals, then the predicate should be plural.

EXAMPLES

  • The basketball team follows their coach's words everytime they play.
  • The jury disagree about whether they should release the criminal or
  • Not, and have told the judge their decision.
