CONNECTION

This is similar to "Alone" by Poe because both Janie and Poe are different therefore they both feel alone in life.

SETTING

The story takes place in the suburbs of Connecticut as well as New Jersey. It has no set time period.

CHARACTERS

JANIE JOHNSON

The 16 year old girl who sees her face upon the milk carton (protagonist)

MR. AND MRS. JOHNSON

The people with whom Janie live with but are actually thought to be grandparents

REEVE

The boy next door whom Janie loves

HANNAH JAVENSON

The girl who was thought to be Janie's actual mom

JENNIE SPRING

The name of the girl on the milk carton which is Janie's real name (antagonist)

PLOT

WHEN JANIE SEES HER FACE ON THE MILK CARTON, SHE STARTS TRYING TO FIND

Information about her past. Her parents are really her grandparents and her mother is missing.

SHE IS RECEIVING MEMORIES ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED. SHE FINDS THAT HER MOM ISNT

Her mom and that she was kidnapped by Hannah. She messages her family but regrets it.

HER PARENTS CALL HER AND SHE STATES, "HELLO MOM, IT'S ME, JENNIE, YOUR DAUGHTER.

CONFLICTS

  • Janie sees the picture but refuses to believe it (internal)
  • Janie wants to tell her actual parents but doesn't want to upset her fake parents (internal)
  • She doesn't want to have to live with her real parents. She wants to stay with her fake parents (internal)
