JOHN LOCKE

  • John Locke believed all humans were born with nature rights.
  • John Locke argued that if the gov. did not protect these rights, then the people had the right to to creating a new one
  • Today if the president not doing there job, then the people had the right to vote for a new president

JEAN- JACQUES ROUSSEAU

  • He had a similar belief about the state of nature but his viewpoint was different about the rote of government
  • He view of the social contract would created a limited government as the gov.'s power would be limited by what the majority of citizen wanted
  • His idea and John Locke ideas formed foundation for the idea of popular sovereignty which is used unlimited gov. today

  • Focused on governmental organization by promoting the idea of separation of power and check and balances
  • His idea is separation of power and check and check balances
  • We still used this today, we separate power and check and balances

VOLTAIRE ( FRANCIS- MARTE)

  • Focused on civil liberties, mainly freedom of speech and freedom of religion
  • His idea is the freedom of speech
  • We still used it today, everyone have the freedom of speech
