PRESENTATION OUTLINE

EQUILIBRIUM

PRESSURE

  • Increased pressure favors the reaction that decreases the number of gaseous molecules.
  • Increased pressure decreases the volume available to this gaseous equilibrium and favors the forward reaction

TEMPERATURE

  • if the temperature is increased, it has a higher pressure.
  • Increasing the temperature causes the equilibrium to shift to the right toward a higher concentration of vapor

VOLUME

  • Decreases when pressure increases
  • Increases when pressure decreases

ENTROPY

  • In thermodynamic equilibrium, all kinds of equilibrium hold at once and indefinitely, until disturbed by a thermodynamic operation
  • In thermodynamic equilibrium there are no net macroscopic flows of matter or of energy, either within a system or between systems
