One thing that exists in equilibrium is that it needs to be almost the products and reactants need to be equal.
Another thing that must exist in equilibrium is Le Chatelier's Principle which changes the equilibrium when the amount of either the products or the reactants are changed.
Something else that must exist is an equilibrium constant.
The equation must be equal so that it can be considered equilibrium.
If equilibrium was lost in any of the processes the reaction would not be able to occur correctly and it would mess up the equation. How they maintain equilibrium is they change the amount of the products and the reactants so that equilibrium can remain the same.
