STEM High School

STEM High School is composed of 312 students

Of the 312 students 35% are students of color

11% of students are identified as special education

Of the 11% of students identified as special education 6% are students of color

The only label used at STEM High School is students identified as special education (I.E.P)

On average, there are about 10 special education referrals each year (I.E.P)

100% of students at STEM High School receive free or reduced lunches. This includes students labeled as special education.

There are two ELL students at STEM High School. They are from Northern Napoli and speak Neapolitan and Italian. The two girls get one on one time with a translator to work on their English. They do get integrated into two classes during the day.

Last year there was only one student suspended. This school year there was one student suspended so far. There are no out-of-school expulsions by any gender.

The total number of staff of color at STEM High School is 6 people

There are two people of color that are certified staff. There are four people of color who are non certified staff.

There is only one bilingual teacher at STEM. His name is Coach Chen.

There are 7 females on the teaching staff at STEM. One teacher is an intervention specialist. Two female teachers are for English. Four female teachers are for Science. There are no female Math teachers teaching AP math. There are no female teachers that teach Math at STEM.

There is no gender specific dress code at STEM High School

The school dress code does not specifically address sexual orientation/ gender identity. The dress code is addressed to "all students."

There are no clubs at STEM High School to support a Gay/Straight Alliance or school statement. There are some teachers that have "Ally" stickers above their doors or in their classrooms.
