College career

  • 1893, Graduated w/ double first in math & Physical Science
  • Later graduated with a bachelor's associates
  • Awards made it able for him to travel to other schools

First researches

  • Concerned w/ magnetic properties 
  • Measuring time intervals by 100-1000 of sec
  • Detector of electromagnetic waves

Discovery

  • 1910 - investigation of alpha rays & atom
  • Led to concept of nucleus
  • 1919, nuclei of certain light elements could be disintegrated
  • Used an experiment w/ plum pudding model & bullet

Contribution

  • Scattering of alpha rays & structure of 
  •   an atom led to his concept of nucleus
  • He believed whole mass & positive charge of the atom
  •   concentrated in a minute space at the center
