BIOGRAPHY
- Was born on August 30, 1871 in New Zealand.
- He attended the University of New Zealand and Canterbury College.
- He graduate in 1893 with a degree in Mathamatics and Physical Science.
- He past away on October 19, 1937 in Cambridge.
CONTRIBUTION TO ATOMIC THEORY
- Discovered a simpler and easier way of detecting radio waves in 1895
- Collaborated with J.J. Thompson on a study of x-rays effects on gases.
- In 1903 he categorized radioactive elements into a "decay series."
- In 1903 he credited the discovery of Radon
- In 1907 made the discovery that most of an atom's mass is concentrated in the nucleus, gave birth the the nuclear model, and paved the invention of the atom bomb
