WEATHERING AND EROSION

BY JOSE MEJIA AND JACOB NALL

CHEMICAL WEATHERING

  • Rain has caused the bar to turn into a diffrent color.
  • The bar has also rusted due to rain.

CHEMICAL WEATHERING

  • Chemical weathering is when a rock is being decomposed.
  • Chemical weathering can also make things diffrent colors.
  • Ex: The Statue of Liberty was made out of bronze which would make it brown.
  • Overtime, the Statue of Liberty has become blue- green due to rain.

MECHANICAL WEATHERING

  • The crack on it could've been caused by people or frozen rain that overtime broke it down

MECHANICAL WEATHERING

  • Mechanical weathering is the breakdown of rock.
  • This can be caused by water, ice or wind.
  • Ex: a crack on a rock

WATER EROSION

  • The stream is being eroded
  • The soil is being removed because of the stream

WATER EROSION

  • Water erosion is when earth's surface is being removed
  • Water erosion is caused by streams or wind
  • Ex: the edge of a river or ocean

WIND EROSION

  • The edge of the little hill was blown away by wind

WIND EROSION

  • Wind erosion is when wind destroys a large chunk of a rock
  • Ex: When wind hits a rock like the Grand Canyon.

GLACIAL EROSION

  • Glacial erosion is when a glacier breaks down a rock
  • Ex: a glacial lake which is made by a glacier melting down overtime.
