Essential Tips: Headlight replacement – Pro Tuning Lab

Published on Nov 09, 2021

For most cars, it is necessary to replace the headlights after a few years or when they become damaged or faulty. A headlight replacement restores nighttime illumination to its original or even higher intensity, ensuring good road visibility to maintain safety. If your headlights are not working or are not as bright as they once were, you can find suitable replacement headlights online and then replace the headlights yourself. Below we explain the process of changing a headlight.

First, we need to find out what kind of headlight is needed. It can simply be indicated in your vehicle manual. If you cannot locate the correct bulb information, consult with an expert at Pro Tuning Lab.

Once you have the right model for your car, open the hood of the engine compartment; identify the rear part of the headlight, disconnect the connectors and remove any screws and then install the new headlight.

When in doubt about how to proceed, always follow the instructions in your vehicle's service manual for details on the correct method to replace the headlight.

In older car models, however, the operation may be a little different. In this case, remove the screws that connect the frame to the bracket that holds the headlight. Be sure to unscrew only the screws that secure the lamp frame, not the adjustment screws.

Disconnect the connector on the back of the light by pulling the plug away from the unit with your hand; finally remove the headlight and replace the broken or dim bulb with the new one. For most older vehicles, replacements with LED projector headlights offer the best results. They are brighter, use less power, are less prone to failure and are more aesthetically pleasing.

Pro Tip: When replacing car headlights, you must avoid touching the glass with your bare hands. The grease stains, which from the hand are transferred to the surface of the bulbs, are transformed very quickly into carbon deposits.

To ensure uniform illumination, it is also recommended to replace headlights in pairs. To get more information on car headlights visit Pro Tuning Lab.
