Boxing
- Estrella became very involved with boxing when her mother asked her and her siblings to join a sport of their choosing.
- She boxed in the ring, which is known as sparring, with boys much larger than her.

May 1st 2006 Immigration Walk out
- Estrella took part in the nation-wide walk out in an effort to fight for equal rights for immigrants
- Her high school suspended students that participated unless they wrote an essay explaining why they chose to march. Estrella wrote an essay about what she wanted for her future and why her parents came to America. This paper ended up being published in the new paper.
Part of this was cut off the end: This paper ended up being published in the newspaper because her vice principle was so impressed with Estrella's writing.
