CHRISTIANITY

  • The ten commandments are an outline of ethics put forth for Christians to follow.

loyalty/Worship

  • You shall have no other gods before Me. (Loyalty)
  • You shall make no idols. (Worship)

Respect for God

  • You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.
  • Keep the Sabbath day holy

Respect for others

  • Honor your father and your mother. (Respect your parents)
  • You shall not murder. (Respect for human life)

Respect for Others

  • Honor your father and your mother. (Respect your parents)

Purity/Honesty

  • You shall not commit adultery. (Purity)
  • You shall not steal. (Honesty)

Truthfulness/Contentment

  • You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. (Truthfulness)
  • You shall not covet (Contentment)

Buddhism

  • There are 5 precepts (ethics) that are put forth for buddhist to follow.

Respect/Honesty

  • To abstain from taking life (respect for life)
  • To abstain from taking what is not given (honesty)
  • To abstain from sensuous misconduct (respect for others)

Honesty & Purity

  • To abstain from false speech
  • To abstain from intoxicants as tending to cloud the mind

Confucianism

  • There are 5 virtues (ethics) in Confucianism.

  • Faithfulness
  • Propriety

ETHICS IN RELIGION

  • The 10 commandments, the 5 precepts, and 5 virtues are all ethical guidelines for the followers of that religion.
