PRESENTATION OUTLINE
Ethical Best Practices
- having regular “ethical talk” between the researcher and participants.
- reflect and acknowledge the different perspectives of all those involved.
- need to work from a position that is
continually ethically sensitive and reflexive.
- embed practices of responsibility and ethics of care.
Research Processes
- "must attend to the close connection between both the context of discovery and the context of justification by attending to the continuous, fluid and complex relationships" (Miller et al., 2012, p.135)
- listen and respond to the data so that he/she is more apt to discover or inquire about a changed conception (Miller et al., 2012)
"studying our methods, understanding what they do, and what else they are entangled with, is part of our ethical and moral responsibilities as researchers” (Miller et al., p.172)

Document Analysis
Identifying and analyzing ethical tensions and their resolution "involves the use of good judgement and that can be greatly influenced by the background experiences of those making that judgement" (Duignan, 2012, p.89).
Ethical research practice needs to become "habit of mind" (Duignan, 2012, p.89).
I am confident this course has provided me with the ethical theory and sound practices needed to move forward in my qualitative research in accordance with the Tri-Council Policy Statement and under the governance of my thesis advisors.
