French-indian War

  • The French Indian War is also known as the Seven Years War
  • The war was between Britain and France
  •  Britain and France fought for territory and wealth of the Ohio River
  • Both colonies tried to have the Native Americans go on their side and defeat one another 
  • Britain convinced the Natives to go on their side and won causing them to win the Ohio River    

Proclamation

  • After the Seven Years War the British drew a line along the Appalachian Mountains
  • The line drawn was to forbid settlers from settling past the line

stamp act

  • You had to pay printed materials
  • Materials like paper, newspapers, and magazines
  • Journalits like Ben Franklin needed the paper, but it was to much to pay for a single piece of paper
  • This act was to pay for the French-Indian War. 

Quartering Act

  • The Quartering Act let British troops stay at your house
  • This would coscider paying more taxes
  • You had to cook, clean, and buy more taxed materials

Townshend act

  • This act was taxes on everyday usages.
  • They taxed materials like tea, paper, glass, and paintings
  • The purpose of this act was to strengthen the power of the British Parliament

boston massacre

  • he Boston Massacre started with insults and a snowball fight from the colonist
  • Troops would try and scare them off  but they wouldn’t leave
  • A colonist knocked down a troop with a snowball
  • The troops got scared and fired causing them to kill five men that night 

tea act

  • Colonists boycott buying tea
  • Colonists dressed as Native Americans went on the ship loaded with tea
  • They dumped every box of tea to the sea
