EXCRETORY SYSTEM ORGANS & FUNCTIONS

BY JACQUELINE PALMER (4TH PERIOD)

LIVER

  • Detoxifies blood
  • Produces chemicals for deigestion and protein synthesis.

KIDNEYS

  • Filters the blood for waste.
  • Produces horomones for red blood cellls in bone marrow.

LARGE INTESTINE

  • Absorbs & transports remaining water and vitamins from indigestible food.

BLADDER

  • Allows for urination (which removes liquid waste).

LUNGS

  • Removes CO2 (gas waste) and takes O2 for the body.

SKIN

  • Gives off sweat/perspiration.

ORGANS THE EXCRETORY SYSTEM EFFECTS:
THE KIDNEY EFFECTS BONES BECAUSE IT PRODUCES ERYTHROPOIETIN, A HORMONE THAT REGULATES PRODUCTION OF RED BLOOD CELLS IN BONE MARROW.
